“Brother Pedro,” as he was known then and now, dies in Guatemala.
1980
Brother Pedro is beatified by Pope John Paul II.
1981
Local priest, Fray Guillermo Bonilla, begins the outreach efforts of Las Obras, following in the steps of Brother Hermano Pedro.
1982
Obras Sociales del Hermano Pedro is officially founded as a non-governmental organization in Guatemala.
1984 to 1992
Hospital expansion adds facilities and services for disabled patients and on-site school for special needs patients.
Outpatient clinic, clinical laboratory, and diagnostic center are opened to public.
1994
First Faith in Practice medical mission to Las Obras.
2001
The Hermano Pedro Foundation USA is founded.
2002
Saint Brother Pedro is canonized by Pope John Paul II.
2003
In partnership with Faith in Practice, the Casa de Fe surgical recovery home is built.
2004 to 2009
Operating rooms are renovated. Cervical Cancer Prevention Program begins. Endoscopy and Colonoscopy clinics open.
2016
The Virgen del Socorro residential care site opens.
2018 to 2021
Restoration of hospital continues with new services offered, including Hematology/Oncology, Psychology, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, and Neurology.
Hermano Pedro Shelter is acquired.
2022
Hospital operating rooms are expanded, a convalescence room, and pre- and post-operative facilities are expanded.
2024
Dental Clinic is expanded.
